In the realm of Esports, there are many different genres of games that have their own dedicated following based on interest, culture and what we call a 'scene'
In this first module, let's take a look at the common genres that make up the majority of the Esports industry today in 2019.

(RTS)
Real-time strategy (RTS) is a subgenre of strategy video games where the game does not progress incrementally in turns. This is distinguished from turn-based strategy (TBS), in which all players take turns when playing.

(FPS)
First-person shooter (FPS) is a video game genre centered around gun and other weapon-based combat in a first-person perspective; that is, the player experiences the action through the eyes of the protagonist.

Multiplayer Online Battle Arena
(MOBA)
Multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA), is a genre of video games in which a player controls a single character in a team who compete versus another team of players. Often the objective is to destroy the opposing team's main structure with the assistance of periodically-spawned computer-controlled units that march forward along set paths.

Battle Royale
(BR)
A Battle Royale game is a video game genre that blends the survival, exploration, and scavenging elements of a survival game with last-man-standing gameplay. Battle Royale games challenge a large number of players, starting with minimal equipment, to search for weapons and armor and eliminate all other opponents while avoiding being trapped outside of a shrinking "safe area", with the winner being the last competitor in the game.

A fighting game is a video game genre in which the player controls an on-screen character and engages in close combat with an opponent, which can be either an AI or controlled by another player.[1] The fight matches typically consist of several rounds and take place in an arena, while each character has differing abilities but each is relatively viable to choose.

They may be based on anything from real-world racing leagues to entirely fantastical settings.
